Otv\u00e1racie \u010dasy a inform\u00e1cie na webe sa absol\u00fatne nemusia zhodova\u0165 s realitou. My sme si i\u0161li napravi\u0165 chu\u0165 a pokra\u010dovali sme e\u0161te ju\u017enej\u0161ie. Cesta do jedn\u00e9ho z najstar\u0161\u00edch st\u00e1le funguj\u00facich kres\u0165ansk\u00fdch komplexov na svete nebola naozaj pokojn\u00e1. \u010cast\u00e9 kontroly vojakov na checkpointoch, raz alebo dvakr\u00e1t n\u00e1s dokonca oto\u010dili, ke\u010f\u017ee sme jazdili cesti\u010dkami ve\u013emi bl\u00edzko mesta Mosul. Posledn\u00fa odbo\u010dku pred mestom Mosul op\u00e4\u0165 m\u00ed\u0148ame, tak sa mus\u00edme k\u00fasok vraca\u0165 a \u010dakaj\u00fa n\u00e1s serpent\u00edny ved\u00face medzi kopce. Postupne sa za\u010dala z hory Alfaf vyn\u00e1ra\u0165 obria stavba, jedna z najstar\u0161\u00edch svojho druhu. Obrovsk\u00fd kl\u00e1\u0161tor Mar Mattai bol vybudovan\u00fd u\u017e v 4. stor. sv. Matejom po\u010das perzek\u00facie kres\u0165anov vtedaj\u0161\u00edm cis\u00e1rom r\u00edmskej r\u00ed\u0161e Juli\u00e1nom Apostatom. S\u00e1m sv\u00e4t\u00fd je tu aj pochovan\u00fd. Kl\u00e1\u0161tor je v s\u00fa\u010dasnosti spravovan\u00fd s\u00fdrskou ortodoxnou cirkvou. T\u00e1to monument\u00e1lna stavba pre\u017eila mnoho konfliktov hlavne kv\u00f4li strategickej polohe v hor\u00e1ch. Stret\u00e1vame zamestnanca miestneho r\u00e1dia Expres, ktor\u00fd n\u00e1m oznamuje: \u201cNaj v\u00fdh\u013ead je aj tak od n\u00e1s zo strie\u0161ky\u201d zahl\u00e1si a ukazuje, \u017ee m\u00e1me kr\u00e1\u010da\u0165 za n\u00edm. Z\u00e1klady prv\u00fdch obydl\u00ed tu boli u\u017e v 7. storo\u010d\u00ed pred Kristom a poh\u013eady na \u00fadolie boli magick\u00e9. K\u00fdm sme sa \u0161kriabali hore, \u201comylom\u201c sme p\u00e1rkr\u00e1t skon\u010dili u dom\u00e1cich na teraske, po\u010das \u010doho n\u00e1m muez\u00edn z amplif\u00f3na recita\u010dne vyspevoval pas\u00e1\u017ee z kor\u00e1nu. Pred odchodom z mesta zastavujeme e\u0161te pri s\u00fdrskom ute\u010deneckom t\u00e1bore, dovn\u00fatra je vstup cudzincom zak\u00e1zan\u00fd. Je vytvoren\u00fd z b\u00fdval\u00e9ho Sadd\u00e1movho v\u00e4zenia pre Ir\u00e1nskych rukojemn\u00edkov a in\u00fdch nepriate\u013eov re\u017eimu. \u013dudovo je budova ozna\u010dovan\u00e1 ako \u201eHrad\u201c.
